Gabon aint too far away. The Chinese want to open these sources to try and stick it to RIO, BHP and the Brazillians. Spending $1-2B and shoring up a supply for 25 years is great work by the Chinese.

I can't justify it to you (outside of all the interest re funding the supporting infrastructure) but I believe something similar will happen here.
