Some videos Moret-sur-Loing ---------- and along the Seine on the way
Here's one of the problems with the Seine locks - which suck ------- they are set up for commercial and they don't seem to think much of small boats - just a boring video - but, look at the distance between the bollards --------- and, every ladder is slippery - and, no easy sliding bollards - bugger
Now - this guy was a great bloke - I suspect he was ex NZ - he looked Maori or at least like a black refrigerator with legs and arms --------- big ones and a big smile - -
a lesson learned -- I had to wait at a lock - for ages - then, it went green - and there was no one else around - so, - in I went - waited more ages -
then, Mr refrigerator appeared - and, I was in the lock tied up - well - bugger me - you don't get a real appreciation on how bloody big these things are until one comes in at about 10 or so kilometres an hour - goes past you by about 4 or 5 metres and your boat is trying it's hardest to be sucked over and give the big brother a cuddle --------------- hmmmmmmmm - no matter what you do - those ropes let the boat go another meter or 2 - which means - you are getting very close - I used the engine to hold to the wall a bit - it helped -
LESSON - wait until the big buggers are in first - then, take up the rear guard.
