Hi all,
so, yesterday, even though winter has clearly finally arrived, I rode to the Wine caves outside of Auxerre.
It's right on the Nivernais Canal - so, I won't be going that way - I might come back that way one day, depends on life.
It is a place worth a visit - I couldn't do a tour because of Covid, but, they were open - which I didn't expect. - Here's the place and pics - they tell the story.
I had fine weather all the way - about 4 degrees at a guess and the river in flood - lots of water upstream from me and we were about 300 or 400 mm from the top of the dock where I am atm when I left - but, later yesterday evening they must have pulled a plug downstream because I see we are now about 600 or 700 mm from the top - the lower the better for me - it makes the bike easier to lift off the boat onto the ground.
