Environmental Clean Technologies Ltd advised that an interim report from global engineering and design firm, Arup confirms its confidence that the Coldry pilot plant production process for the dewatering of brown coal can be up-scaled to a demonstration plant capacity with a continuous output of 150,000 tonnes per annum.
Arup believes that, with the improved capability to undertake process optimisation trials, the demonstration plant can be upgraded in a modular approach to a production facility of 2.5 million tonnes per annum or greater.
Chief executive Kos Galtos was pleased with Arup’s estimation that the reduction in greenhouse gas emission (CO2) in using the Coldry pellets as a fuel source for electricity generation, in comparison to the typical Victorian run-of mine wet brown coal, would be 30-35%, inclusive of the power used to dewater the brown coal.
