There has been subtlety building press about an east coast very fast train project. This project is politics in action.

Malcolm Turnbull talked it up in a full page article in either The Australan or SMH a few months ago.

John Alexander from the NSW Govt was on one of the ABC radio stations talking enthusiastically about it this morning and there was a snippet on the ABC news as I arrived home this evening.

The difference this time is the concept of value capture to help fund, that is securing a portion of the significant increase in land and property values is captured from existing and new regional centres that will spring up along the way.

Value capture is a game changer.

There is a solid chance an east coast very fast train project will be Australia's next Snowy Mountains Scheme.

Imo, the innovation of this project is not the very fast train itself, as so many of them are already in operation around the world. The innovation is in how it will transform east coast Australia, the multiple new regional centres, affordable homes, new lifestyles, new industries, new jobs, new commutes, easing pressure on existing cities, new markets, new services.

And it will be attributed to the Turnbull Government and Turnbull selling the power and benefits of innovation. Turnbull imo is well qualified to recognise trends and opportunities. This time around Australia is the beneficiary of Turnbull's entreprenurial skills. How appropriately Prime Ministerial.

Imagine how this could transform several decades of Australian politics and political fortunes.
