There are a few conveyor based ore sorters around....one type uses optical based detection on a thin stream of ore on a wide conveyor that is sorted into "goodies" and "baddies" to coin a phrase from our new PM, typially using a squirt of compressed air to separate the two. There are alternatives, and they have been installed previously so are not pie in the sky. Optical tehnology has come a long way recently. I can even take photos with my phone!

These units typically have poor recovery and hence have a bad name, but in CDU's case recovery is not important as the "baddies" just go onto the stockpile to be fed into the main plant, not to tailings.

On high grade massive sulphide ore that is sub DSO grade like Rocklands, there is a fair chance this sort of thing may get a portion of the ore over the line to a DSO grade of say 15-20% Cu.

    Hope this enlightens.

    Back to the shadows......
