Hunter has developed its infrastructure much more than the Barossa and is a nice drive from Sydney. However if you live app 4 hours South of Sydney like I do it is around 6 hours to the Hunter and much as I like it the drive is a bit far for a weekend.
I probably source more wines from the Barossa but have only actually visited there twice from trips to Adelaide and day tours. Both good but agree Barossa is a bit quiter than Hunter.
