"$30 Mil is an enormous figure, in anyones language"

That may be true, particularly with INL's current market capitalisation.

However, from INL's 26/11/08 announcement:

"The plant was originally constructed by BHP in 1989 (at a capital cost of over A$160 million) and operated until being transferred to Delta in 1998. It is estimated to have a replacement cost of up to A$500 million in today’s terms."

Therefore, we are talking even more enormous figures for the cost of a replacement plant such as the one at Newcastle. Therefore, while we are still to see the financial figures for Newcastle, there is the possability the plant could be run quite profitably as not many competitors would be willing to invest those amount of funds for a competing plant.
