9/11 was an audacious, meticulously planned attack carried out on an unsuspecting civilian population by a small group of radical islamic terrorists.
They got away with it coz. no-one had tried what they did before.
If someone got up on a plane now with a boxcutter knife and tried to take over the plane all the passengers would rise up and overwhelm them.
At the time, no-one understood what they had planned so they got away with it.
Why is it so hard to understand that?
