My tax accountant is a one man band (with wife in toe). She runs the office, he provides the expertise.

For me they're great. We sometimes get together for card nights, a restaurant, show. Last week I had to get an urgent audit done on a company I run and he dropped everything and did it the next day. How many public firms could do that ? - It helps to build up a good repo're with your accountant and don't shop around for the best rates. You pay for what you get. My accountant thankfully is a gentleman on that score also and never over charges although he is always at my service.

His downside - he can't take on more work and since the GST cut back on about 1/3rd of his lousy clients.
