I would be interested in your view as to what is an acceptable occupancy level. My experience (not in Childcare) is that despite waiting lists, rarely is full occupancy achievable. This is so because of what I would term "waiting list fatigue" as people on waiting lists make other arrangements and do not remove themselves from lists. Also, often people on waiting lists are on multiple lists and therefore the waiting list is not a true indicator of demand. Accordingly, it is almost impossible to get to full occupancy. So, are you aware whether or not G8 have set a notional target of say 90% (or some other figure) at which believe they have achieved a satisfactory level of occupancy? I believe it is not helpful to be thinking in absolute terms of 100% occupancy when for many reasons (not related to the efficacy of the centre) full occupancy is not achievable.
