But you are going against buying stuff with with good reviews.

I bought a Kelvinator fridge, compressor failed and they replaced it, that one failed too so I bought a Haier. I didn't know linear compressors existed but I'm sure I have one. It took over a day to pull down to temp.

A conventional compressor typically has a short duty cycle. It comes down to temp quite quickly and then only works intermittently. This must be the refrigeration version of running a V8: Good but not efficient. I suspect the linear compressor is working most of the time but you never hear it, but they get the Energy Stars.

The door seals on the Haier are shot already. Another couple of hundred I suspect.

As an aside I have replaced the control board on three of four Mitsubishi split system aircons. None done in by geckos. One was in a spare bedroom and probably had only run a couple of hundred hours. I didn't actually repair that one, I replaced it with a Hiaer. Still hardly used.
