We usually get 10 years out of our front loaders. By that time parts are no longer available as manufacturers do not support their models long term. Front loaders use less water (great for rural users on tank water). Less fluff and pilling. We went all out and bought a 16kg model about 6 months ago (LG) Bigger loads mean fewer loads to do.
