4) Buy the graphite miners
Benchmark Mineral Intelligence has forecast demand for graphite (used as anode material in lithium-ion batteries) is set to treble in the next four years as global cell production surges on the back of maturing pure electric vehicle demand and the inception of the utility energy storage market.
Whilst there are risks graphite maybe replaced (say, by silicon in the EV battery) one day, it is still today the most popular and widely used material in the lithium-ion battery. Silicon to replace graphite has issues with expansion, but shows great potential to increase energy density. It maybe that graphite is still used in combination with some silicon, and some years out.
