Surely this "unrealized gains" tax is already in place, but at 15%? And they are proposing on increasing it to 30% for the proportion in gains after your balance goes over 3 million.
I'd assume if you had a loss for the year then this could be deducted from future gains.
Maybe someone with a SMSF can shed some light on what they have gone through previously at year end with unrealized gains? Are they forced to stump up the cash for 15% of the gains?
