As time passes, China isl gaining enough economic clout to force US economic and political interests back into its own hemisphere. Whether the US accepts a forced retraction from its global hegemony is the big question.

Graham Allison's book " Destined for War: Can America and China escape the Thucydides Trap?" is a well worthwhile read because to lays out the history of when a waning power and an ascending power lock horns. From memory war ensues 75% of the time which is not a good omen for either
the US or China.

A bit rich given certain countries use of China as a discount manufacturing hub. Is it implied they were built up at a time of convenience only to be nominated as the ‘enemy’ when it no longer suits?
