What we have to remember is that Communism has been the US' chief enemy since the 1920s and the CIA & the US armed forces will want to debunk the Chenese Comminist regime if and whenever an opportunity presents itself.
On the other hand, China's objective is to maintain internal social & economic harmony because China's regime sees its chief threat comming from within.
As time passes, China isl gaining enough economic clout to force US economic and political interests back into its own hemisphere. Whether the US accepts a forced retraction from its global hegemony is the big question.
Graham Allison's book " Destined for War: Can America and China escape the Thucydides Trap?" is a well worthwhile read because to lays out the history of when a waning power and an ascending power lock horns. From memory war ensues 75% of the time which is not a good omen for either
the US or China.
