lets correct your ideas, shall we
history
the facts are not as you claim
"By the time the Americans invaded Iwo Jima, their military was stretched thin and so was the funding. The American people had lost the appetite for war.
Enter the two nukes I was referring to.
stretched thin.......... really ??????????
America and their Allies
including Russia, which was attacking the Japanese in China
were going to attack Japan from the south
where there were only a few troops stationed
the southern areas where the planned invasion was to take place is 'fairly' flat
that's the reason for invading this area
an airfield could be built there
and then an invasion force could move through Jap....
but two things stopped this invasion
Jap, was bringing back huge number of troops from China and these went directly to southern Jap....
an battle there would have been very costly in human lives
and THEN........ the clever generals discovered Jap was very mountainous
result would be a battle all the way, without any armour support etc
because the Japanese would have SNIPERS all the way over, above and around every mountain
(yes snipers, fancy that, an lone rifleman)
the result an huge loss of live by the invaders
this also resulted in more bombing with the hope the war lords would say enough is enough
but they didn't......... in fact the Emperor , didn't care
(result is now, the people have taken away all his power, and now he and his family are only symbols)
the A Bomb came
and saved thousands of lives on both sides
ps.............. we were in Japan only some weeks ago
pps........ I've tried to make this as short as possible, thanks
