Tour aims to allay coal project fears

Residents at Kingaroy in southern Queensland will today get to see Cougar Energy's underground coal gasification (UCG) project.

The company is opening the site for a guided tour in an effort to allay the public's fears about the project.

Cougar Energy spokesman John Henderson says after the tour there will be a presentation in the town hall.

"The second part of the meeting will be where the Cougar team will all be present, including our board, and it's our intention at the second part of the meeting to provide residents with factual and relevant information that should assist them to understand why we believe Cougar's UCG project is safe, beneficial and not harmful to people or the environment," he said.
