Of course Australia has become a less desirable destination for Japanese......what the hell else do you expect will happen other than people turning away from Australia and going elsewhere to more easily accessible countries when the national airline and its offshoot reduce carrying capacity (flights) by 70%?!

Until such time as adequate services are restored to/from Japan, Tourism Australia are wasting Australians' time and money launching an advertising campaign to get Japanese tourists to travel to a country they can't even reach!

In Central Japan, an economic powerhouse with a population greater than Australia's, there are no direct flights into Australia whatsoever but there are direct flights to Thailand, Malaysia,Singapore, Indonesia,Vietnam, Hong Kong,China, Philippines, South Korea,Guam, Saipan, Hawaii, Mainland USA, Germany and Finland.

Is it any wonder then that people are going to these countries in spades whilst Australia misses out altogether?
