unfortunately R8, even the piece you are clinging to is wrong. the impact figures take into account the manufacturing of the vehicle; this includes the battery.
I think your sentiment is that it requires more resources and pollution to manufacture the vehicle in the first place vs a diesel engine, but it doesn't matter if the lifetime impact of the car is beneficial. I will also add that these figures always represent a skewed perspective because of the conservative approach to vehicle life. Both EV and diesels have longer life than these numbers show and the further you stretch it, the worse it gets for Diesel.
Impact over the vehicle life is far more important than the manufacturing impact. I would relate it to if a wind farm caused more pollution to build than a coal burner.
It was a good point to bring up and a perspective i had never considered, I will say that i am bloody relieved.
