Wednesday, 6th February, 2008 “RCI”
Directors of Rocklands Richfield (RCI) limited are very pleased to
announce that the company has received written approval from the
Anhui Province Economic Committee, of the Peoples Republic of
China, for a 0.72 mtpa capacity upgrade of the company’s 480,000
coke oven plant to a new production capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per
annum when completed.
The company’s adherence to good environmental standards, land
planning and safe production was instrumental in securing this
important milestone. The approval is an essential pre requisite for any
capital upgrade and evidences the good standing of its coke
manufacturing process in Huaibei with the provincial regulatory
authorities.
RCI intends to take advantage of the global long term strong demand
for coke for steel making which has resulted in historically high prices
achieved for its coke products.
The company has the in-house ability and expertise to design and
upgrade the plant to the 1.2mtpa capacity and is able to move quickly
to capitalise on the positive market sentiments for coke.
Detailed design work for the plant upgrade is already well advanced.
Funding details and construction timing will be announced once
approved by the board.
