I wouldn't get too excited wrt nickel.
Toyota is expected to switch from nickel to lithion ion for the next generation of hybrid.
I drive a Toyota Prius (great car to drive - if you haven't try one) and recognise that the greatest limitation on efficiency is the battery. They currently only use a tiny fraction of the potential charge discharge cycle depth in order to get a suitable lifespan out of the NiMH battery. I understand the move to lithium ion will drastically improve this, however I believe that too will only be an interim solution.
You can forget hybrids as a significant source of nickel demand. ATR is wrong.
