I think the purpose of QAN, BBG, GFF and QBE were not as comparisons but rather a case of "we told you so" on those four stocks and "we are telling you again on LYC".
I didnt read anywhere which said they were fundamentally related or suffering from the same fundamentals. Just that they picked those shorts correctly.
And this big broader market sell off too earlier this month.
