perhaps they didn't see any value due to its complexity.

like you say, sometimes more money in speculation rather than actual nickel in the ground

RRS areas are in the right geology -but not large areas. The negatives in my opinion have been the rather ordinary geophysical reports -not signifying anything special in terms of conductors and the hopeless management - months and months where they did not even appear to be interested in doing any work despite paying a huge vendors consideration.
But exploration has a big component of luck - I am not knocking them and they could jag some sulphides as the granite sills overlying the ultramafics here present unusual geological complexity.
On the face of it though seems more like mining the market -but if you can make money maybe that is easier than finding nickel.
