Highland Lad wrote this morning on HC daytraders pre-market thread:
"Australian fundies went on a buying spree yesterday to position their portfolios in the best possible light before sending clients the quarterly reports. Some of those buys will find their way onto the market early today, depressing the open."
That probably explains the fall.
We need more clued in sources of info and opinion. I'm surprised that there isn't up to the minute commentary available on indices since money is pretty popular!
Anyway, here's another source of info for pre-market commentary:

I've never found anything reliable. I just get a balance of info and compare it to overnight moves. Then I wait for excessive moves and then bet in the other direction.
