You have to make apprenticeships attractive to entrants in the first place. Everyone wants top dollar straight up, You can earn better money anywhere than an apprentice starts on.
Trust me, we are scraping the bottom of the barrel ATM.
And secondly because of greedy, dodgy SA TAFE a decade ago, there is a shortage of teachers. The teaching qual and compliance obligations have gone through the roof. You can’t just rock up and stand in front of a class. Something has to be done.
And don’t worry about employers, the government covers a lot of the apprentices wages. They cost stuff all.
