The microsoft dividend can hardly be considered generous. MSFT said that it was going to double its dividend to 32 cents. On a 29 dollar stock, that "double" amounts to a mini-dividend yield of 1.1%, which is even below the dividend rate on the S&P 500, that being an historically low 1.75%
