I made enquiries about trading BIP's on the Toronto exchange through Westpac who are our usual broking platform.
This is all info given by Westpac International trading advisor.
Westpac have a Global Markets Desk aka International Desk, brokerage fees are USD65.00 or 0.75% whichever is greater, per trade.
The Westpac Trading account we have for our ASX shares does not allow International trading, a separate Westpac account will be required to trade internationally.
Once the account is established, and as these are North American shares, a similar system to CHESS is initiated through Pershing LLC, a subsidiary of Bank of America?? according to the Westpac person. The BIP shares may then be transferred to that account for trading purposes. A holding statement will then be issued by the Toronto exchange.
