Important Changes to ASX Opening & Closing Auctions – Effective 23 June 2025
The ASX is making important changes to how the opening and closing auctions are managed. These changes are scheduled to go live on Monday 23 June 2025, pending successful Industry-Wide Testing (IWT) this Saturday.
What’s Changing
- Opening Auction: The staggered opening rotation is being removed. All equity securities will now open simultaneously, rather than in alphabetical groups over a 10-minute window.
- Post-Close Session: A new 10-minute trading session will be introduced after the Closing Single Price Auction (CSPA), allowing trades at the official closing price.
