trading day or settlement day

Guys,

I really need this info asap. For a buy or sell transaction to be considered to have happened in this financial year, which one is the deciding factor : (a) is the settlement day required to be in this financial year (before 30th of June 2007), or (b) should just the trading day (date of sell or buy) be in this financial year - with the settlement day being, say, 4th of July 2007?
