Exactly. 2-3 years is a hell of a long time in battery technology (if CTM are even mining by then, given their continually slipping schedules). LFP is here now, lithium-air looking very promising, and there are interesting developments in sodium batteries that won't even need lithium, let alone nickel. LFP is much safer than ternary Li-ion batteries in EVs, can be routinely charged to 100%, good for 1 million km, and even if they do weigh a bit more they also have a substantial price advantage. Hence recent moves by Tesla...
