This 11.7.23 bbc.com article provides a "snapshot" of a specific Indonesian Ni mine; & of Indonesia's widespread practice of dumping Ni mining/processing wastes into the sea.

Indonesia is, obviously, not complying with generally accepted (but often not in China) ESG principles.

Indonesia is also not complying with the EU's announced plan (which might also be introduced by USA & India) for a compulsory "Green Passport" for all the metals (eg Ni. Li, Co etc.) contained in EV batteries, & renewable energy stationary storage batteries etc.; & the type of power (preferably mainly renewables- not fossil fuels?) that were used to make them. Details here Post #: 68662191

Indonesia is the world's biggest Ni exporter. Continuing with its polluting practices in Ni production, in the medium to long term, will greatly benefit CTM (no dumping wastes into the sea; & will mainly use hydro power).
