IMO, there are at least three factors which are likely to influence the additional diamond valuation:

1. Market conditions - initial valuation was in a "soft market"

2. "deep-boiling" - valuer stated "It appears if there is a feint brownish residue on many of the diamonds, including the 131.4 Carater."

3. Confirmed Type lla - IMO, this is where the most significant variation in the valuation is likely to come from. As stated in the initial valuation report: "Many of these stones are flat irregular dodecahedral shapes with cleaved flat faces common to Type lla diamonds."

Definition of Type lla diamonds (as documented by diamond valuer):

Type lla diamonds are the purest form of diamond. All of the major white top flawless diamonds like the Cullinan, De Beers Centenary, and the Millenium Star are all Type lla stones. Type lla diamonds are rare and account for less than 1.5% of all diamonds mined. Type lla stones can be White (D to G), all shades of Brown and Pink, but never yellow, due to the absence of nitrogen."

Obviously, there are stone related factors which will impact on the valuation, e.g. cutting the big stone.

Earth's atmosphere is made up of 78% nitrogen. Fingers crossed that the big stone is free of it!
