That could be a distinct possibility, and there are many examples in history where allies have turned on each other. At the risk of sounding like CB, I'm sure Stalin thought his deal with Hitler was pretty sweet before 1941.
The board could concievably seal it's fate if they only focus on beating off the rebels. I can't see how they could prevent a 15% investor from trying to mount a takeover at some stage, except that 15% is a long way short of 51%.
