While I am guessing I think this purchase is related to the iROBOT video released last week - seems a logical thing to do send out a robot to clear an IED and the MST option allows 3 shots out before recoil changes the point of aim (remember back to 2005 moose and the rifle tests).

Hmmm now wasn't there some big push planned for July in Afghanistan in the news last week - a big push will need to clear a lot of IED's as it moves forward and of course using an iRobot system will reduce casualties and make good footage for back home.
