I agree with you - I can see little merit in closing out the hedge book. That is unless they think the price of gold will increase. Only a fixed number of ounces are hedged so increased production is not an issue.

I believe that it is all to do with liabilities. As the company says they could be called on to repay the 55 million early and at this time they don't have the money,
