"however, I know that I am not alone when it comes to having confidence in the big man ... the vote clearly illustrated that yesterday!" - IMO the whole AGM spectacle with all companies is a debacle where 9 times out of 10 it will always favour the resolutions put forward.
Why?
- Directors hold shares through various nominees/trust accounts/business names
- People can't be bothered posting in a reply paid envelope with their vote
- People think "What is my vote going to do"
- The top 20 have more at stake then you and I therefore vote 'for'
- You have people who are sitting on hefty gains saying 'for'
- People can't turn up at the AGM
- The people that don't/can't show up at the AGM, which then turns into a show of hands, pushes through the resolutions
To be a director means $$$ inside the pocket
