The Mutooroo Magnetite Project (located in EL 3745 just inside the SA border with NSW and 90km southwest
of Broken Hill) is examining the potential for magnetite iron ore within sediments of the Adelaide
Geosyncline equated with the Braemar Iron Formation (see ASX releases of 21 June, 22 July, 18 August
and 9 September 2010).
A recent metallurgical test programme conducted on 35 composites of 4m intercepts from drill hole
08RCMUT-01 and 34 composites of 4m intercepts from drill hole 08RCMUT-02 showed that the samples
are amenable to upgrading by magnetic separation. Preliminary metallurgical DTR2 tests3 returned positive
results, yielding high-grade magnetite (Fe3O4) concentrate with average iron (Fe) grades of 68.9% ?
69.7%. Impurity levels, including silica (SiO2), phosphorus (P), alumina (Al2O3) and sulphur (S) were within
feed specifications for blast furnace grade magnetite concentrate.
