    Dear Mr Abeyewardene
    Request for Trading Halt
    MetroCoal Limited (MTE) requests that a trading halt be granted by ASX immediately with respect to the following securities:
    - MTE fully paid ordinary shares (ASX: MTE)
    For the purpose of Listing Rule 17.1, MTE provides the following information:
    (a) The trading halt is necessary as a media report has been published in India speculating on the progress of discussions in relation to the marketing of the Joint Venture opportunity for EPC 1164;
    (b) The media article has also speculated the potential investment for the JV and has incorrectly advised that a reserve has been achieved for the tenement.
    (c) MTE is not aware of any reason why the trading halt should not be granted.
    Yours sincerely
    Theo Psaros
    Chief Operating Officer
