re: whats up with this trading halt? I can't see how MRC could ever possibly be made liable for the actions of a LIMITED LIABILITY company in which it invested. My understanding concurs with Meekat's in that "the courts would have to overturn long standing protective company law to get at MRC." What's next, are the Baryulgil community and their lawyers going to come gunning for MRC shareholders? Get realistic! The courts aren't going to let commerce as we know it come to a standstill.
What I find interesting about this whole saga is the actions of MRC management. I can't see why a trading halt was put in place for four whole days over this. Something smells fishy. Maybe their intention was to appear "nervous". Who knows, maybe Caruso will get the opportunity to privatise the company for less than the cash its has in the bank.
