Oil and gas explorer MEO Australia Ltd was the most traded stock by volume, with 93.38 million shares changing hands by 1050 AEDT.

MEO shares were down 28 cents, or 55.45 per cent, to 22.5 after the company said it was preparing to plug and abandon the Artemis-1 well, a joint venture with Petrobras off WA's north west shelf.
