The weak link in your logic is that you are not accounting for filthy rich GAMBLERS who do not know heads nor tails about the outcome. They put in bids anyway, 'just in case' and the average bloke can't afford it. BUT, they tactic these tricksters play is that they dissemminate positive info so that the average bloke puts in a bid, which in turn acts as another prop underneath their own GAMBLED bid. The ramping therefore is a safety mechanism and NOT necessarily anyone in the know.
A thick market depth DOES NOT indicate Inside Info or anyone who is in the know - NOT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM! A UNEXPLAINED thick MD is merely data pertaining to that amount of rich folk or gamblers who have put in hopeful bids. Then they get propped up by less wealthy gamblers who are just following that gambled money with similar hopes.
I am very surprised that an 'investor' pretends this is not a real dynamic and that a thick MD means something concrete. That notion is a laugh and will lose you money 9 times out of 10 - and that is a rough fact.
