Call me cynical but I am preparing for a bad announcement. Why would they need to halt and prepare for 48hrs for a positive funding announcement, imo. Something positive, imo, would be announced half hour later from my experience.

depends on how big the announcement is. the bigger it is, the more likely it is to be leaked, so if the announcement is really important (positive or negative), a trading halt is required. the sp has suddenly begun climbing, so the company might have deduced that the information was leaking; i.e., a trading halt was in order.

there are also people within the system who sometimes like to trade on news before it's released. a trading halt would not allow them this unfair advantage.

good or bad? I'm not sure, but it's probably an important announcement nonetheless.
