I agree that it is strange that this announcement by WPL was also not on FAR site but WPL did not go into a trading halt. Also it is not up to ASX to announce a halt but actually up to the company, which FAR announced at around 10 minutes past 10am. I am guessing that FAR completely blindsided by the timing of this announcement, although still doesn't excuse trading halt lodged after 10am this morning.
Your second point is the one that interests me the most. Conoco, I presume, would have told FAR and CNE about the WPL offer way back in Q1. I cant help think that we are going to see pre-emption come into play because of low ball offer and also the further upside to be announced. Soon we will know.
