I saw this article a few days ago quoting less than 10c per gram. If/when prices stabilize it will benefit SA considerably as they will be able to stay ahead of the cost curve when developed regions like Canada / US / Aus etc are competing to make it as cheap as possible by the dollar per gram, while SA is producing for 10c / g.

Oil is the main play here but MM is a great side venture with huge margins. Doesn't bother me that margins will reduce in years to come; that isn't the case now and the early movers are the ones who will gain the most.

If this Patagonia really does have the rare strains indicated in the announcement they already have an advantage which transcends cost anyway (rare genes) so there are multiple benefits to the transaction, both the region and the collection on hand.
