rock chip samples are ok for an early stage indicator - however there is no substitution for drilling...
If a company finds a mineralised outcrop, I would expect to see an amount of rockchip samples that represent the dimensions, at least giving some confidence in the continuity of grade - both the company and to shareholders.
The legislative environment required to actually drill these days means than often jnrs have to wait at length and at great expense to drill - I guess announcing rock chip samples has become a means of infilling the announcement lag.
