EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING

Golden West Resources Limited (Golden West) advises that
it has today received a request from shareholders holding
more than 5% of the Company’s shares seeking the removal
of Con Markopoulos, Alan Rudd and Michael Wilson as
directors of Golden West.
In accordance with the Company’s obligations under the
Corporations Act, Golden West will convene a meeting to
consider the removal of these directors forthwith.
A formal notice of meeting, setting out all matters to be
considered, will be forwarded separately to shareholders at
the appropriate time.
Golden West notes that Fairstar Resources Limited
(Fairstar) has today questioned the appointment of Geoff
Wedlock as Chairman of the Company.
Mr Wedlock was appointed Chairman by the Board of
Golden West on 29 November 2007, to succeed founding
Chairman Dr John Daniels on his retirement.
Golden West advises that on Wednesday 19 December
2007, an issue was raised with respect to Mr Wedlock’s
appointment.
Consequently, Golden West has today received legal advice
confirming the validity of Mr Wedlock’s appointment.
Golden West notes that Mr Wedlock, a senior iron ore
executive with 35 years experience in the industry, brings to
the Company substantial iron-ore specific skills, experience
and capability.

These skills, including a successful track record of successful development of major iron ore
projects, are exactly the skills required to build Golden West’s capability to further the development
of the Wiluna West Project.
Fairstar’s actions in this matter are clearly contrary to their assertion they are committed to the
rapid development of the Wiluna West Project.
