    I'll have a guess and say that management saw after last night that the market was going to tank, and took a view that this could continue over a couple of days.

    So you call a trading halt and next week you release some information, at a convenient time(see below), that you have been sitting on; information that is positive, but probably not all that earth shattering to warrant a trading halt, but enough to satisfy asx.

    Convenient time - they will release the info when it looks like being a good day on the ASX. ie if DOW up or stable tonight, they will release it Monday or Tuesday. if DOW tanks tonight and Monday night they will wait till the Wednesday to release it. Other permutations and combinations, but you probably get the drift.

    If so, it is a good strategy by management - sit on the sidelines and weather the storm.
