Range Resources, Africa Oil Start Somalian Seismic Data Program

July 16 (Bloomberg) -- Range Resources Ltd.'s partner in Somalia, Africa Oil Corp., said it started a seismic acquisition program in the country's Puntland region.
Seismic recording in the Dharoor Valley began on July 9, Vancouver-based Africa Oil said today in a statement distributed by PR Newswire. The company plans to acquire ``2D vibroseis data'' at the Dharoor Block before drilling two wells in each of its two Puntland concessions, it said.
``We are now working hard to reinstate the drilling program in order to commence drilling during 2008,'' Africa Oil Chief Executive Officer Rick Schmitt said in the statement.
Africa Oil is the 80 percent joint-venture partner of Australian explorer Range Resources at its two onshore Puntland oil and gas concessions.
